How your estimate is built

01Pick a published team snapshot or clearly labeled league average.
02Adjust tickets, food, transport and merch for your family.
03Compare in USD or approximate CAD.

Fan Cost Index–style sources

The calculator adapts a family-of-four approach: tickets, common concessions and parking. Where a study gives only a total, the component split is labeled estimated. NBA merchandise is excluded from the source total because merchandise is a user-entered budget here.

Data year: 2025–26. Figures are USD at source. Teams without a cited current team figure use a visible league-average estimate; no older Yankees figure is mixed into the 2026 MLB set. Refresh yearly.

Game-day cost FAQ

What is the Fan Cost Index?

It is a family-of-four comparison method built around tickets, typical concessions and parking. The cited studies use closely related bundles; this calculator separates the components so you can customize them.

How accurate are these estimates?

They are useful planning ranges, not live quotes. Published averages, seat tier assumptions, resale demand, opponent, date, taxes and fees can all move the actual price.

Why can Toronto teams look more expensive?

Team ticket snapshots differ greatly by market and demand. The currency selector converts the same USD-source calculation into approximate CAD; it does not add a special Toronto premium.

How are kids calculated?

Kids tickets use 75% of the adult estimate and kids food uses 80% of the concession unit, with no beer. Both are clearly labeled assumptions, since team child policies vary.

How often is the data refreshed?

The data block is marked 2025–26 and designed for a yearly refresh. Prices change yearly, and ticket prices can shift within a season.

What does the CA/US toggle do?

It changes the display currency. CAD results use 1 USD = 1.38 CAD, clearly labeled as an approximate October 2026 rate. Source data remains in USD.

What is a league-average estimate?

The cited source did not provide a compatible current team-specific component figure, so that team uses the league fallback. The result card labels this instead of inventing a number.
